Cheaper rates for efficient homes & free independent advice

We learnt today how much impact making simple changes to domestic housing can have. Electrifying your home, getting solar & a battery, swapping to EVs needs to be incentivized and easier to do. Perhaps we could enjoy a discount on council rates if our homes meet a certain Green Star performance or NatHers rating - that might help landlords care (if they pay them). Councils could be supported by Fed Govt as an cost effective way to drive change. And all councils to have a service to help.

Points

If you just paid 50,000+ for a brand new electric vehicle and you need to charge the battery, would you swap it out for a battery that may be 5 years old and near the end of its serviceable life? Yes it would be easy for already wealthy households to go greener and reap the benefits of cheaper council rates, what about the households that are struggling already and would end up being burdened with higher rates because the council would still require its full revenue.

I like incentives. However this isn’t equitable as unit dwellers miss out.
