The most efficient way to reduce green house gasses is to tax polluters or have a carbon credit scheme. We had one and it was abolished. The community is paying the costs of this.
There is little evidence that greenhouse gases do serious damage. A 1.5 degree increase globally will be concentrated in cold areas and is only on--tenth the daily cycle. At the moment, Russia and Canada are benefiting and much of the increase is at midnight, because of increased water vapour. Let's make sure these gases are damaging first.
I believe the negative impact on the economy outweighs any benefits received from reduced emissions. Not to mention the complications with implementing and enforcing it fairly.

Emissions trading schemes are tried and tested and they work!
Most economists would agree. The carbon tax in Australia was very successful, but sadly destroyed by politics.
