Remove environmental rebates and subsidies

Remove environmental rebates and subsidies

Environmental rebates and subsidies represent in the order of 15% (direct environmental charges) to 30+% (when including indirect environmental charges) of current residential electricity bills.

Points

Rebates are good for getting a new industry started. They roll back as the new setup becomes stable. Example: Solar Feed-in Tariff. When no-one was abe to afford solar panels, the FIT was high. Now that solar is more affordable, the FIT is very low. This is exactly how all of these rebates should be managed.

change the percentages to mitigate the cost of living, yes. Reform, not remove. Rebats and subisidies are too beneficial for those who need the offsets.

Without rebates and subsidies, only wealthier people could afford to get cheaper electricity through solar. Subsidies are a great way to accelerate the transition, and make a huge difference to those who are trying to climb an increasingly difficult economic ladder

I believe renewables should stand on their own. If it's truly cheaper then rebates are not required
