Re Develop the Brickworks site in our seat of Menzies at Box Hill, into a Cogeneration/ Large Uninteruptable Power Supply[UPS] Power Station. Use renewable power such as Wind, Solar, Pumped Hydro and any Methane from the old land fill on the site. Use as a STEM community centre for what can be achieved.
whatever is done here, it is crucial that large tracts be retained as open space. Green spaces for better air quality, plant more trees. More high density housing is NOT the answer. Just because the space is there doesn't mean it should be exploited. Government in Vic just wants to take soft option to cash control issue. They seem to think spend and they will come. How about restraint in spending and finding intelligent solutions for the majority and greater good.
The Brickworks building might be good for this as a part of the use, but also the building could have a use as a community hub. Another vital aspect of this site is the use of the 7 hectares around the old building as public parkland. The Rail authority however is proposing more housing on that land. Yet thousands of people are due to move into high rises by 2030 and this land can provide health and vegetation benefits.
would like to explore this as part of a multifunctional use approach for this site that also includes green space for biodiversity and livability
leave it as public land. It shouldn't have methane. it was never a rubbish tip. It was a clean fill site
