A cycle route linking the village to the beautiful Downs

Specifically from Plumpton race course build a cycle path or a cycle friendly track so our children can cycle to and from school or from the village to the downs . Could be down side of fields from the Ridge or follow Plumpton lane down as far as the Half Moon. Would link the village to the downs and also be a good route for walkers to encourage a healthy lifestyle!

Points

I hope that this would be a safe all year footpath downtown the Downs much like the one at Westmeston.

We live in Switzerland now with similar small narrow roads that could be dangerous for cyclists..but!..with a simple cycle lane line painted in the road you get 1) A concern in the drivers mind that they are driving partly in a cycle lane (they have to when the road is not wide) and SHARING the road with others 2) As drivers must partly be in the lane - a very clear message that if they come to a cyclist in that lane they have a right to be there and that they must only pass when it is safe to

Sorry about the spelling mistakes- on a wobbly train!

Sue, Highways are reducing the speed limit between Plumpton Green and the Half Moon to 40mph sometime soon. The road is too narrow to have a cycle lane added to one side, let alone both so how are you proposing running such a path?

Painting a cycle path on our roads is not the answer. Speed limit is 60mph and parts of it (Green Cross, White Bridge etc) are too narrow already....

Cost of a cycle path would be 100's of thousands - this money (approx. £5k) would be spent on something more reasonable. That said, it could be used to start a campaign to create the path but would quickly be used up with little to show for it...

At present we live almost an hour's walk from school which we occasionally do weather permitting but it's 2 hours in total- we could cycle in 20 mins and collect kids to cycle back home. It's a shame to love somewhere do rural and have to rely on the car so much- we'd use it much lass as would a lot of other people around the ever expanding plumpton college and in Streat.

I think the route would need to be proposed before anyone can realistically start campaigning for it.

Raise this via the Parish Council as they have access to grants etc and this is likely to be > one hundred thousand pounds!!!

It would much safer way to go
