Decolonise the curriculum and celebrate diversity

In all areas of the curriculum, from history, citizenship & music to science & languages, children and young people in Oxfordshire should be engaged with a greater, more complex story in the narrative of BAME Britons. Children and YP from diverse backgrounds, should be given knowledge about their heritage & identities so that their stories/histories are told and know that they have ancestors who were active participants in the creation of Oxfordshire.

Points

Currently, the curriculum is unbalanced and contains serious omissions and areas of false emphasis. Children and young people need to have a strong, confident sense of their own value, ability to contribute and their sense of belonging in Oxfordshire. They need their histories and heritage to be celebrated.
