Project Pusaka

Hi Chris thank you! It will involve Microfinance once we establish our permaculture-based business enterprise. Most of the indigenous Subanon people rely on agriculture so we will be training them hands on and the research part of it will be studying factors such as climate, topography, soil type, etc. to determine the garden design and what type of crops to plant. This will be funded through sponsorships, donations, funding opportunities, etc. I will attach the full proposal soon.

Hi Nicolette thank you for your feedback. This approach is definitely local towards a bigger social impact considering the intersectionality of these issues. Yes, this approach can be applied to communities elsewhere. For eg. if you want to empower poor people through food security, permaculture does not limit itself to a garden (which can be hard in slums) but the bottle garden approach can be utilized here. I find this perceptive, locally targeted and potentially innovative response to wider climate and socioeconomic changes an attractive one. I would love to know more about how the Subanen culture, smart agriculture and micro business will be combined in practice, and how the pandemic impacts on this. I also look forward to seeing some compelling images and/or videos telling this story.

I think this is a wonderful initiative. The best I have read so far. But what will it involve? Microfinance? Hands on work with the farmers? Research? and how will it be funded?
