Remove the packaging after you've paid for your goods

When using the zapper to buy fruit and veg IN PACKAGING, remove the packaging when it's been paid for and leave it in the shop-better still, buy loose veg. I take paper bags (from the market stalls) and put my fruit and veg in those. I ask for fish to be put into a plastic box which I take with me.

Points

I'm really sorry to be negative but that wouldn't solve the problem. If you take the packaging off in the shop there is still packaging that needs to be either thrown away or recycled. It's not really reducing waste.

It would mean that I am not having to recycle the packaging, and if enough people adopted the strategy, it would make the supermarkets sit up and take notice-they are the ones being left with it all!

Ok but I thought these were ideas that the co op might introduce. What you're proposing is an excellent way of raising awareness and I believe that it has been affective in other countries.

I think it would be better not to have the packaging in the first place. That being said, if we have to have the packaging, this is an excellent idea, and maybe it could be designed to be re-used?
