At present there is complete mistrust, having gone past being askance, for the Malta Police Force. This has been perpetuated by the Government and current legislature which has been largely unchanged. Greater Powers and robust legislature must be called for.

The Malta Police Force should in the first instance be empowered by legislative reform, this should be construed to mean; 1) Separation from Government in any shape or form, and complete independence; 2) Greater Powers of arrest and investigation within a predefined and robust framework; 3) Transparency of appointments and operations; 4) Oversight by an independent board comprised from respected citizens from different walks of life; and more....
