There should be incentives (e.g property tax rebates) for whoever opts to renovate/repurpose existing old buildings (with or without structural alterations), rather than demolishing and building them from scratch. There is a big problem with discarding construction waste at the moment and this is not sustainable in the long run. This should also help reduce the huge amount of vacant property in Malta.
